Just one week to go until our second consecutive Carling Cup final appearance!

I suspect there might be a few people out there who are not fancying our chances of beating United. But, remember last year, there were probably a few folks who thought it was all over when Chelski scored. I must admit I wasn’t sure we could/would come back in that one. We all know what happened then. What a magical day!

We all know that Spurs play better against better opposition, so anything can happen in this game.

In Toronto we'll be watching the game and then hosting our annual Spurs Canada Mid-season party. We hope that other Spurs fans across the country will be getting together to watch the game as well and celebrating afterwards with a drink or three.

If you want to host some other local members to watch the game, either at a local pub or your home, let me know and I'll pass the information on to other members in your area. That goes especially for you folks in or close to Vancouver and Victoria. There are quite a few of you now, so take the opportunity to get to know each other and cheer on the team together.

I know that some people find it really comfortable to be sitting at home on the couch watching TV. But, for a big game like this it’s way more exciting to be savoring the atmosphere with a group of fellow Spurs fans.

If you're in the Toronto region, or can get there for the day, we're holding our party at Scallywag's, our home base pub at Yonge and St. Clair, right by the subway. We'll have a free pint for all Spurs Canada members plus some free food, our fifty-fifty draw, and a raffle for a shirt autographed by the players of THFC as well as other prizes too numerous to mention. There will also be a quiz on THFC trivia, so get your thinking caps on and be prepared to dig deep into the memory bank. All in all I’m sure it’ll be a great day at Scally’s.

Winning the Signed Shirt

Every paid-up member of Spurs Canada is eligible to win the signed shirt, a real collector's item. All you have to do is become a member before the Carling Cup final, if you're outside of Toronto, or sign up at Scallywag's on the day. We'll make the draw about an hour after the game from our complete member list, so get signed up! It's only $35 for those in the GTA, $20 for students and those outside of the GTA, and $15 for Junior members under 12, so what are you waiting for?

The website has a membership form you can download. Just fill it out, paying special attention to the t-shirt size you'd like, and send or bring it in with your cheque or cash. Make sure we have a phone number and your email address is legible.

If you're out of town it's getting a bit late to mail in the form before the party, so email the information to president07@spurscanada.ca and tell us your cheque is really in the mail and we'll add you for the draw, print you a membership card and package up a shirt for you..
